How I Met My Razer

Gaming for Gamers

I know a lot of us are fond of playing video games but taking it to the next level is far more different than just playing a side scrolling 1 player game or a puzzle game for that matter. Most of the video games now are connected to the internet where MMORPG and MOBA are the most popular games today.

MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena are the hottest games today because of the competition and the excitement as any other physical sports which is why it is now called an E-Sport. One game was even recognized as an Official Sport in the US and pro players would have a working visa as athletes. With alot of competitions and players, how are you going to step up?

How I met My Razer

Gaming with this is going to be Legen..wait for it...dary!
Choosing a right equipment or peripheral might not be a big factor for you but for pro and hard core gamers, it is very important to have a good and reliable peripherals for your game. At first, I was contented on having a simple mouse for playing League of Legends and DOTA 2 but sometimes the mouse fails to function and my game would be ruined resulting to a loss. That was the first time I bought a real gaming mouse. The gaming mice was called Razer Naga. It was the coolest mouse I ever saw and it has 12 buttons that sits perfectly on your thumb. It was very easy for me to use items in my inventory in the game rather than pushing the numbers in my keyboard. I sure knew that I was becoming faster and more responsive to the game itself. That is what you call "Imba".

Cleaning time!
I was really satisfied with the performance of the Razer Naga and was interested on what other products they have then I saw a keyboard like no other, the Nostromo (N52te). I game on my laptop which is why this is very essential for me. I don't want my keyboard in my laptop to get easily destroyed because of pressing those QWER skills in game which is why the Nostromo (N52te) is a separate keyboard and is ergonomically designed in your hand. To add it up, having the Razer Kraken Pro as my headset lets me enjoy hours and hours of gaming with clear crisp sound, and clear voice with the microphone without noticing its in your head.

Well kids, that's How I met your Razer XD

The biggest gaming exhibition will be held in Dubai and I am getting excited!
The Game Evolution will go live this November 15th and 16th at the Dubai World Trade Centre and it will have a lot of events! All thing Gaming, Exhibition and Education! The Game Evolution is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and is also organized by "INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Org Est".

This really sounds amazing! I've always wanted to go to a Gaming Exhibition and even better, GE will be setting the stage for the Grandest LAN and Console Gaming tournaments with a cash Prize of USD 150,000!! There will also be a massive Consumer Exhibitions, Career Fairs and Educational Workshops and this will happen in a two day celebration of Games and Gaming Culture!

This is a call to arms. Anyone out there who would want to join me in a Tournament?

Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It's About time is now Live! In some countries

I know you are getting excited and can here the phrase, "the zombies are coming.." along with a catchy tune which gets stuck in your head while playing it. But for those who are in Australia and in New Zealand, the wait is over and it's about time!

Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About time has been released and launched last July 9, 2013 in Australia and New Zealand and it's free! But why the delay in other countries? PopCap's Senior Producer, Allen Murray revealed in an interview with Polygon that the company is making sure of the game's internal systems won't break under pressure when the game will launch.

In the interview, Murray said, "With Plants vs. Zombies 2 were taking advantage of a lot of newer technologies". "If you're connected to the internet, you can save your progress and share accounts across multiple devices - and we need to make sure those systems, along with our ability to stream that content to players, works."

Well, you definitely can't blame them as they are really making sure that the players worldwide would not be disappointed with some bugs and glitches while playing Plants vs. Zombies 2. In addition, PVZ2, as most of the games now requires an internet connection to play it which is why the company is worried with the large influx of players which can affect the back end stability of the game. Requires internet connection you say? Well, technically, you won't need an internet connection just to play but instead, some extra online features will be available once connected to the net.

"If we had more players than we could account for, some of the systems might fall over," he added."We want to be double confident, so we're testing it in a smaller region. This allows us to have more controlled testing player base and determine how to keep the game healthy, then map that to the expected growth when we launch worldwide."

You won't be able to fight the Zombies for sometime, but hey, I'm sure PopCap's doing their best to make the game enjoyable and fun without any problems that may encounter in the future.

Here are some of the screen shots while playing the game. Enjoy!

Pharaoh Zombie stop getting my Sun!

Upgrades. That's what I'm Talking about!

Good thing I still got time to write this blog. I was actually playing it while writing. Can't...stop...playing...must...play...Ughhhh....brains!!!

DOTA 2 to be fully released this summer!

At last! DOTA 2 will be officially released!

DOTA 2 feels like its already been fully released even in its closed beta phase. I bet those who are playing DOTA 2 right now on steam has dozens of beta keys stuck in their steam inventory. This game was also known to be one of the most played game on Steam right now even if it's still in its beta phase.

Yesterday, PC Gamer announced that DOTA 2 will be fully released later this summer and is going to be free-to-play. Well, maybe this full release will not be such a big deal but might become a popular MOBA this year. The game will be officially released prior to "The International" DOTA 2 tournament which will be the biggest DOTA 2 tournament and will be held this August.

Will DOTA 2 step-up to its MOBA competitors like League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth? Let us know with your comments below.

Definitely one of the Best MOBA in iOS! Solstice Arena

MOBA on Mobile devices

MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena is one of the most addicting game online. The most popular MOBA is the game called DOTA where it all started in the PC using the Warcraft 3's engine, it was the most successful MOBA ever played. Soon, other game developers created different kinds of MOBA based on DOTA and now, it reached the mobile gaming industry.

The first time I saw a MOBA that looks like DOTA, I was excited to download it and played it. It was called Heroes of Order and Chaos. It was actually a cool game at first, but when time pass by, I felt its getting boring. The slow paced game-play and the graphics makes me want to play a Temple Run game. I mean, the map is so wide and it takes you like forever to get to the enemy turret. This game pretty much copied the concept of DOTA you can't really play this kind of game during your commute or waiting for the bus. The game is great but with this kind of map and pace of the game, its better to play MOBA games on PC.

Solstice Arena Game-play

Yesterday, my wife saw a featured game in the App store and was rated 4.5 stars. And i said, "meh..maybe its another boring DOTA look alike but I still downloaded it. The name is Solstice Arena which is made by Zynga, from the creators of the popular games in Facebook. So when I first tried the tutorial, it has a nice decent graphics and different game-play. It's a nice blend an original map and game concept! I was surprised with this game as you don't have minions or creeps to get your gold from and is only a 3v3 game. Where you get the gold from to buy items is in the middle of the map. If you are familiar with League of Legends game, it  is like the Dominion Map where you are going to capture the chest full of gold and re-spawns at specific times. You can play this game either online for PVP with other players worldwide or play solo or with a friend with AI opponents. You can even customize your hero's items and don't you worry, even if its your first time to play a MOBA game, this has a newbie friendly UI (User Interface). Don't know what items are for your hero? Well it has an auto buy function and recommended items you can buy for the specific hero you are using so you will just sit back and enjoy the game.

Solstice Arena Map

The map of Solstice Arena is really amazing. The concept, the graphic and originality makes this a powerful
and fun game. The Solstice Arena Map is what it should look like in a mobile game where it won't take you an hour to play. The goal is to destroy the main turret located inside the base and on the way, you need to destroy the first 3 turrets. Gold or money can also be found in the middle where you'll be fighting for it to have a good item to crush your opponents.

Solstice Arena Team play

Solstice Arena, like League of Legends needs teamwork. Hero's have different roles in the game and you should know your role in the game for your team to win. Basically its just 3v3 so team composition is important. One should be having tons of damage, another should have a strong armor or "tank" to protect the attack damage carry and receive damages from enemies and lastly, the support, which can make your team survive in fights, the caster and the healer of the team.

Solstice Arena is one of the best mobile game I played. You can download it on your iOS devices (too bad for Android users) for free! There are mini transactions in game to buy heroes or skins but playing it will also have "Valor points" to buy the heroes you want. I'm pretty sure I missed some of the other features of this game but you'll going to find it out once you played it. I've even never experience a bug or a lag during the game, which is so good! For more details on the game, visit their website at http://www.solsticearena.com/

This is an awesome game to play in your iPad and when you finished downloading it, be sure to add me "GenosX" in game. See you then! You can download the game here which is available for iPhones, iPad and iPod touch!

Here is the official trailer of Solstice Arena:

Which MoBA game you prefer?

Want to play MoBA games?

Action real-time strategy or called MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) nowadays is considered to be the most addicting game not only in Asia but in different parts of the globe. But what started it all? Some gamers even me consider DoTA (Defence of the Ancients) to have started this all, but we were wrong. ARTS or MoBA first began in a Starcraft custom map named Aeon of Strife (AoS) which is pretty much the same as today but with a lot of modifications to make the game more interesting and fun.

ARTS or MoBA is a considered to be the sub-category of an RTS game but you only control a single character and no unit or building construction. This game solely emphasizes on teamwork and skill on handling your character's skill well. The game is pretty much basic stuff where you are going to destroy the the enemies base and going through periodically spawned minions, creeps or what ever you call them and bringing down towers before going through the enemies main base.

I started out to play DoTA (Defence of the Ancients) during my college days and become addicted to it. Learning this game is easy for me as I was familiar in playing RTS games before but controlling one character now is a lot different. DoTA has been popular and has been appearing as part of e-sports until now. With this popularity, other MOBA games arise as they have another point of view in how MoBA game should be.

When Heroes of Newerth was released, I can't believe how beautiful the game is. This is just the same as DoTA but with great graphics, fast paced gameplay and new unfamiliar characters with new skills to play. This further level up the competition. Leaving DoTA behind, me and my friends played HON for a long period of time until it became pay-to-play and only available in US servers. We were so depressed that we tolerated to DoTA again as we were not familiar with the controls and pretty much wanted HON back. So I researched on another MoBA game that would be free and fun to play, then I discovered League of Legends. At first, I was a bit skeptical myself. I thought the cartoon graphics was not good and the cartoon characters were not that awesome as HON but again, I was wrong until I played it.

This game was not a walk in the park. This game changed the way I think in a MoBA game. League of Legends emphasized teamwork and strategy literally unlike when I played DoTA, I was on killing spree and I can take on all of the team's heroes with overpowered items.

I have never played DoTA 2 yet but seen its gameplay and honestly, I preferred HON for the graphics. Maybe if DoTA 2 have come much earlier that HON, I sure play DoTA 2 right now.

There are other MoBA games out there like Demigod, Super Monday Night Combat(a third person shooter twist), Rise of Immortals, Realm of the Titans and the upcoming Starcraft DoTA.

I personally suggest that you try other games before judging the best MoBA game for you. Or you can comment below what MoBA game you're playing and why.

A webisode totally worth watching: VGHS!

Video Game High School

I’ve watched many of freddiew’s hilarious and awesome videos in youtube, and I admit that I’m a fan of his vids. I was always checking out his video channel for new vids then I saw the trailer of VGHS (Video Game Highschool) and man was it super cool!!

VGHS a School for gamers

Video Game High school is I think, one of freddiew’s masterpiece for gamers out there. This webisode is only about 12- 20mins for each episode and airs every Friday. VGHS is a School for elite and selected gamers all over the world to compete to be the best gamer in their chosen field. From FPS gaming to Rhythm gaming, the school covers all of the different fields which is, by the way, in their school logo.
I became so addicted watching VGHS wherein episode 4 was one of my favourite. This episode features the band The Protomen, a Mega Man themed band. When I learned that it only has 9 episodes for the first season, I felt bad! But the last episode, episode 9 was great! This should totally be a series or even a movie. Each episode is really fun and entertaining to watch which is why I open my computer early in the morning during Friday’s.

VGHS Season 2

I’m not sure when the next season will be. But for those gamers who haven’t watched it yet, its definitely worth watching it from the beginning to the end!
You can watch Rocket Jump Production’s VGHS at their official page here.

Meanwhile, watch this cool trailer of VGHS:

7 Ways in surviving a Zombie Apocalypse

7 Ways in surviving a Zombie Apocalypse

We might not know it but zombie apocalypse has began!..well in video games that is. There are a lot of zombie apocalypse games out in the market which includes the Resident Evil series, Walking Dead the Video game, Dead space and other zombie horror games. These kinds of games are not for the weak hearted as it may frighten the heck out of this gamers. But on the other hand, gamers who overcome their fears will enjoy a lot out of these games.

The zombie game that I'm into right now is called Dead Island. Unlike the Resident Evil Series, Dead Island is a first person survival game with no high-tech guns or fancy martial arts which makes it more realistic. In addition, you are gaining some levels and experiences to place skill points in your skill tree which looks more like an RPG game. The game is set in a resort island in Papua New Guinea where a zombie outbrake occurs where you, along with four other people are immune to the bites of those zombies. There are different kinds of zombies that you will encounter, which includes slow moving zombies(walkers), running zombies(infected), zombies with incredible strength but slow(Thug), ranged type and chunky zombie(floater), and exploding zombie(Suicider), a giant zombie(Ram), and a ridiculously scary and fast zombie(Butcher).

Ok so here are some of the tips that may be helpful in killing this kinds of zombies.

1. Try not to get in a horde of zombies.
> Running from a lot of zombies may save you a lot of time but if these guys followed you, it would be difficult to kill them all. If they are in your way, try to kill them one by one by going forward then back so that the zombies near you are only the ones that will attack you.

2. Kicking like a boss
> Kicking causes the zombies to be stunned so you have a chance to attack them, decapitate them or even chop their limbs off. Time your kicks right because if you fail, you'll take a lot of damage from them.

3. Use gas tank wisely.
> In the game, there will be some gas tanks lying around whenever I encounter a tough zombie. This tank can be used as a throwing weapon which deals a slightly strong damage or it can also blow up zombies by throwing knives or blades at it. Carefully position these tanks near the enemy and time it right.

4. Don't be a reckless driver.
> Now that you have a pick-up truck to run over those zombies, keep in mind that you still can take damage from the zombies if you are not moving. Driving these trucks are difficult so practice driving with it so it would take you to far places.

5. When running is an option.
> I mentioned awhile ago that you should prevent running. Well it depends on the situation. If a horde of zombies is after you, run back and attack and repeat the process, stay away from a lot of attacking zombies and run a bit further to have a chance to attack.

6. Be resourceful.
> You are going to find a lot of weapons lying around in the game, some are weak weapons and some are strong. Either way, try to get these weapons because all of your weapons loss their durability so it's best to have the skill where you can smash there heads with your foot while they are lying down.

7. Follow your quest map.
> If you are not sure what to do next, click on your quest and choose the quest that you would want to finish. You'll find it easier as you can just follow you map on where you need to go.

Ok, so any comments or more suggestion on playing Dead Island please feel free to comment. I just started the game and I'm really addicted to this! Happy Gaming!

Here's the trailer by the way. Enjoy!

A different kind of Pokemon Game: Pokemon Conquest

Pokemon Conquest: Nobunaga’s Ambition

There are tons of different pokemon games and spin offs that was released by Nintendo which was distributed in different consoles and hand-held but Pokemon Conquest: Nobunaga’s Ambition is one of the unique and best pokemon game in Nintendo DS/Nintendo Dsi. My first pokemon game that I’ve played is Pokemon Red which can be played in Gameboy. I remembered playing it with a friend and enjoyed it as you can battle and trade pokemon using a Nintendo Gameboy cable. Throughout the years, different generations of pokemon emerged and appeared in different games. Pokemon games are popular because of cute and amazing looking monsters where you train them and evolve them to become a lot stronger. It is a turn based RPG set in different regions which depends on the version of the game you are playing. There are a lot of pokemon spinoff games but Pokemon Conquest is considered to be the fully realized spinoff in Pokemon history.

Pokemon Conquest game

The game is a crossover of Nintnedo’s Pokemon and Tecmo Koei’s Nobunaga’s Ambition which is rather an obscure transition but works beautifully well. In Pokemon Conquest: Nobunaga’s Ambition, your story begins in Ransei Region where you play as new Warlord of Aurora alongside with your pokemon, Evee to conquer to seek the Legendary Pokemon, Arceus, who is foretold in the legend to be the one who created the Ransei region. Because of this, all the other kingdoms have no choice but to defend or to conquer other Kingdoms and proclaim war using their pokemon to battle.

Pokemon Conquest’s gameplay is different to the traditional core title because of its tactical turn based strategy much like Fire Emblem only with Evee on it. The monsters have unique and cool abilities which add excitement to the game with great pokemon battle animation which is enjoyable to watch. In addition, the hand drawn anime character art styles, monsters and locations look terrific and syncs well with the story line.
I just started to play Pokemon Conquest and I tell you, it’s a lot of fun! Engaging in battles and recruiting different warriors/ pokemon in addition to its combat style and art makes it more addicting. Pokemon fans out there would surely love a new and unique style of pokemon gaming.

Here's the trailer for Pokemon Conquest: Nobunaga's Ambition. Enjoy!

The Most Anticipated Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6

I've been a fan of Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 3: Nemesis first appeared in Playstation one. Resident Evil is an action, horror survivor game where you encounter evil mutated zombies and a pharmaceutical company who started the zombie outbreak. Along the way, you are going to meet allies and new enemies and unlock stories on why the outbreak occurred. There are almost twenty two resident evil games all in all and the new Resident Evil 6 is the twenty third installment of the series. Though I only finished four Resident Evil Games which includes Resident Evil Survivor, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Resident Evil 5, you’ll pretty much learn what’s been going on on other Resident Evil games that you haven’t played. Through all of this RE games, Capcom has learned a lot from here which is why Resident Evil 6 maybe one of the best in the series.

Resident Evil 6 game

Resident Evil 6, as I mentioned a while ago, maybe one of the best Resident Evil games out there. The gameplay, new features and story makes the game so amazing! There are three main stories of the game and three playable characters including a new character in the RE series named Jake Mueller. To begin with, the story happens in the year 2013 where in the U.S. president officially made a statement and unveils the secrets behind the Raccoon City incident on 1998. Leon S. Kennedy, a U.S. agent working for the government has now been facing a problem as the bio-terrorists attacks have turned the U.S. president Adam Benford into a mutated zombie. Meanwhile in a fictional city in China called Lianshiang, the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member and captain Chris Redfield is preventing a new bio-terrorist attack that has been occurring in the city. And lastly, at the Eastern European state of Edonia, you play as Jake Muller, a mercenary and the son of the late bio-terrorist Albert Wesker. All have different plots but it will eventually overlap in the end. RE fans will surely be excited as this is the first Resident Evil game which allows you to play two popular male protagonists.

Resident Evil 6 also offers new game features which make your zombie killings easier, more impressive and make it look cool. One of the features that I love is when the characters can dodge at the same time slide lying on his back and shoots the enemy. Capcom promises that Resident Evil 6 will give the players action and thrilling experience which has been lost in the past Resident Evil 5. Capcom wished to come back to their roots where people experience horror in the game, which most Resident Evil games are known for. Resident Evil 6 also brings these slow moving zombies back unlike the past Resident evil games which includes mutated B.O.W’s and fast moving zombies.

Resident Evil 6 release date

I know all of the Resident Evil fans out there can’t wait to play this game but don’t worry, Resident Evil 6 will be released this year on October 2, 2012. Resident Evil 6 is surely one of the most anticipated games this year. For updates and everything about Resident Evil 6, be sure to stay tuned here at genosgamingblogs.blogspot.com

Here's the Resident Evil 6 game trailer. Enjoy!
